Inspired by Keenan Ivory Wayans “Don’t Be a menace to South Central while drinking your juice in the hood”. Although silly as fuck this movie still delivered messages, in a light hearted but in your face manner. I’ve always admired this method of delivery/discussion of issues of today’s world (my world). Spoof films have always been a favorite of mine from films by Mel Brooks to Mr. Keenan Ivory Wayans. Not to get to deep but, this piece reflects how I feel about the messages and delivery method. Based from old wood panels from an old business sign vandalized by graffiti artists in south Atlanta this piece incorporates acrylic paint, latex enamel, and resin emulating the layers in the messages in Keenan’s “How to be a Menace…”.
Mixed Media: Wood, Acrylic Paint, Spray Paint, & Resin.
